India's AMCA Project Spells Trouble for Russia's Su-57 and Su-75 Ambitions

The Security Committee of the Council of Ministers of India has embarked on an ambitious venture: the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project. Russia's introduction of the Su-75 Checkmate, a fifth-generation fighter aircraft aimed at markets like India, has been met with an underwhelming response. India's reduced enthusiasm for Russian hardware highlights its desire to diversify its military procurement and nurture its own defence industry.

Only thing Russia can offer is a ssn design and 200 mw nuclear reactor and space technologies . I dont think, they have much to offer other than these. THEY havent invested in anything for a longtime.

SU-57 withered away when Russia took $350 millions to define Indian FGFA concept (SU-75 derivative) but did not let Indian IAF or any government employee go near the SU-57 prototype.
Russia asked for billions to develop Indian FGFA and India refused it.
Russia failed the trust test right there and then.

Su-75 needs money to develop and India has its own fighters to develop.
So India said goodbye to Russian fighters.

We should go for Su 75, if Russia manages to rollout and conduct first flight of the plane before 2027, since it's a SEF- it can easily complement AMCA when the later would be ready( mk1- 2033 IOC).

Pak already has 2 options, and they might induct J35 soon. We can't afford to lose the lead to them.

And Idk from where some fag0ts have the confidence to say that Rafales are better than J20s.- If u go on hearing western propaganda, u will end up having this superiority complex too. As of now, I still don't know on what basis is Rafale better than J20

Forget AMCA, Tejas Mk2 will take till 2030 to ENTER production. And I am being very very optimistic here.

AMCA can only be expected to ENTER production post 2035 best case or 2040 worst case. Till that time, IAF will have a 5th gen fighter vacuum. While China will have a 300+ fleet of matured 5th gen fighters (if not more) and even P!6stan will BEG and GET 50-60 5th gen fighters (Chinese).

Only Time will tell ,But once Russia start inducting Su-57 and AMCA have time to become mature platform so India can think about it Su-57 is better platform than Su-75. India may buy 3 to 4 sqadron of Su-57.

Local production of less than 100 aircraft will be difficult to push through, both financially and contractually. That said, a speed-up of MRFA (all 114 aircraft of them) is highly needed.

Not happening. Work hasn't even started on the Su-75 prototype. A first flight is not even planned yet, not to mention all of the testing, the LSP and UA tests, and finally a production-ready version. At the bare minimum, that is a 4-5 year cycle.

J35 or FC-31 is still lomg way away. It is first going to be inducted by chinese navy, then it would be exported that too in few numbers

Obviously, amca is going to enter in production after 2030 as as we started the project in 2010 so I never expected that we can develop it before 2030. And I agree we have to buy foreign 5th gen fighters

India should fiocus on the 3 upcoming jets- tejas mk2, amca and tedbf. Tunnel vision. We have been building domestic missiles and bombs for this very reason. Other countries throw tantrums when asked to integrate indian systems
