HAL Expedites Delivery of Tejas Mk1A Fighter Jets for Indian Air Force

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has made a significant stride in the production of India's Tejas Mk1A fighter jets. The company has accelerated its delivery schedule, with all 83 aircraft now expected to be delivered to the Indian Air Force (IAF) by 2027-28. This marks a full year ahead of the original timeline.

CB Ananthakrishnan, Chairman and Managing Director of HAL, affirmed the company's commitment to delivering the advanced fighter jets ahead of schedule. He emphasized that this achievement demonstrates HAL's dedication to strengthening India's defense capabilities.

HAL recently took a major step to bolster production by establishing a third production line specifically for the Tejas Mk1A at its facility in Nashik. This, in conjunction with existing lines in Bengaluru, has increased the company's production capacity from 16 to 24 jets annually.

The Tejas Mk1A is a domestically designed and manufactured fighter jet, showcasing India's technological prowess in the aerospace sector. The expedited delivery of these jets will provide a vital boost to the Indian Air Force's fleet.

Agreed, unless the 404 engine bottlenecks are solved we may only get about 16 jets per year, given spares, refurbs etc...India should have planned for domestic assembly of 404s even with limited TOT as far back as 2010.
The USA refused to give any TOT and we had no choice but we can always manufacture the jets ready and whenever the engines arrive then they can install it as soon as possible.

HAL has got to set up more production lines as there is a large back order of Tejas MK1A jets that we need to produce as quickly as possible because we need to increase our squadron strength.

They should also give our indigenously developed jet a license to the private sector who can increase our production capability by using their existing facilities. We could just give them a open license and buy their manufactured jets. V

HAL has delivered many such empty promises in the past.

Mr. C B Anantkrishnan should focus on managing his teams rather than giving blown-up media bites.

If this were China, 3 years down the line, Mr. Anantkrishnan would have been staring into a commission and possible arrest for boasting and yet not sticking to the promised timelines.
Agree to some extent..but then that was Past n Last. Tdy HAL is much efficient n geared up...although they some time over react..but things r now set in positive direction and Goal.

It seems, some core scientists of HAL got a confidence that, even after this product is completed still they will get orders for next items and no need to live on this single product for years.
So, they have decided to expose their efficiency and decided to be more productive!!!
He he ...
This is really an achievemement of existing Government that they win their confidence by giving suffiicient orders.
This is really a good developmental sign that we will see simialr trend in other products and really we will become self sufficient.
