India Delivers Final BrahMos Missile Shipment to Philippines Today

India has made a significant stride in defense exports by delivering the fourth and final "battery" of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines. This delivery, amidst growing tensions in the South China Sea due to China's increasing claims in the region, is part of a $375 million deal signed between the two countries in 2022.

The fourth missile shipment was transported to Manila onboard an Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster. Each battery includes four launchers with three 290 km range missiles, each launcher mounted on a mobile platform for enhanced survivability. The weapon's supersonic speed makes it a challenge for land or ship-based Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) systems to intercept.

This successful BrahMos delivery to the Philippines marks a boost in India's defense exports, which have already reached ₹21083 crores in 2023-2024. This represents a 32.5% year-on-year growth. The proven track record of BrahMos missiles suggests that India may receive even more orders for these supersonic missiles in the future.
