HAL Proposes Shift to Nasik Facility for AMCA's Public-Private SPV Production Model

HAL Proposes Shift to Nasik Facility in AMCA's Public-Private SPV Production Model

India's ambitious AMCA (Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft) program, designed to propel the nation's defense capabilities into the realm of 5th-generation fighters, has gained significant momentum with government approval for development.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the state-owned aerospace giant, will spearhead the initial production phase, building prototypes and pre-production aircraft.

Public-Private Partnership for Long-Term Production

The long-term manufacturing strategy for the AMCA centers on a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) model. This SPV will see a private sector company hold a majority stake, while HAL retains a minority position.

The goal is to harness the combined expertise of both the public and private sectors to ensure the AMCA's efficient and cost-effective production.

Potential Change in Manufacturing Site

A potential shift in strategy has emerged regarding the AMCA's manufacturing facility.

While earlier plans centered on a new joint venture facility in Coimbatore under the Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor, HAL may now offer its existing facilities in Nasik to the private sector partner.

These facilities are currently undergoing upgrades to support Tejas Mk1A production.

Upgrading vs. New Builds: Considerations

The reasons behind this potential change aren't fully defined. It's possible that upgrading the Nasik facilities could be faster and more cost-effective than building an entirely new plant in Coimbatore.

Additionally, Nasik's existing aerospace ecosystem could provide an advantage for AMCA production.

Milestone Approval and the Road Ahead

The government's green light for the AMCA program is a significant step forward.

Whether a new facility is ultimately built or existing infrastructure is repurposed, the partnership between HAL and a private sector company will be essential.

This collaboration aims to successfully develop and deploy the AMCA, positioning India as a leading force in the global aerospace industry.

When was funds granted!? Show me the official proof, not a statement of someone but official news by GOI.
When was the product supposed to be delivered as per the manufacturer? Already shown the official proof.

Similar ADMISSIONS are available on other things too- thing is that they actually never get real....just like AMCA project director fantasying about rollout of AMCA before 2029.

It was on comma...CDR was completed a while ago...files for CCS approval have been given a long ago....still more than 1/2 year delay.
Files for CCS approval were submitted in April 2023. So less than a year. So no comma.

No similar statements have ever been made. You tried and couldn’t provide a single example. And if they were, then they will also be called delays.

Yaha Jo blame karega vo ya to Bina date dekhe , ya to koi interview padhke , ya chu* yapa karne vala hoga.....

Official date is all what matters.....
Indeed. A date given by the head of the manufacturer is all that matters

Nope they bear responsibility because Tejas MK2 prototype fabrication was originally slated for 2023 but then postponed to 20024 and then again deferred for 2025. Even with revised timeline, they were expected to get the prototype fabrication done in 2024, but now that is impossible. So they cant escape the responsibility by shifting blame.
It's shows HAL method is inefficient of prolonging the work of mk2 introduction 😹😹😹....time is gold bruh

Are u serious? HAL had all the freedom with LCA MK2 and were originally scheduled to roll out the prototype in 2023 but that later turned to 2024 and then to 2025. Similarly, they were originally slated to start test trials by 2025 but now they are likely to only commence in 2027. They had a very narrow window of opportunity where the induction of LCA MK2 made any pragmatic sense. Yet they blew it spectacularly. Its been painfully obvious for industry analysts for a while that the AMCA program has been delayed beyond measure and even the AMCA MK1, which is expected to be a 4-4.5 generation fighter will not see service anytime before 2037-40.
That's why proper knowledge is necessary, HAL got CCS approval to make prototype in Sep 2022 but the approval for utilisation of funds came in Sep 2023 , due to government new policy to have a amount of indigenous content in a product & f414 deal...

You don't make a product without setting a deal with other manufacturers. Blame HAL for not rolling out Mk1A by March 2024 but not for Mk2 or AMCA in both project HAL asked for private vendors for production of jets but no-one came ahead..

After a CCS approval a prototype comes after 3-4 years , that a simple thing in every jet project

India is doomed, Very bleak prospects, No hope at all, with the capacity to make only 24 jets in all of HAL facilities combined, HAL needs to make Tejas MK1A, MK2 prototype, TEDBF prototype, AMCA MK1 prototype, upgrade SU-30’s and upgrade MIG-29’s, so out of 24 max capacity, three will be occupied for prototype development, so in the remaining 21, let’s say 6 are occupied for Super Sukhoi upgrade, 21-6 = 15, let’s say 3 are occupied for MIG-29 UPG upgrade, now we have 15-3 = 12, let us say 3-4 piers or occupied for regular maintenance of other jets., so the balance is only 8, only 8 Tejas MK1A can be manufactured/year., based on my calculations if HAL has capacity to make only 8 Tejas M1A/year, it will take 23 years for it to make 190 jets, what about MK2, TEDBF, AMCA MK1.

No where Peeniya website say their own design , they say distributor and importer.

Ethereal and HMT make own design
Peenya is an industrial estate near Bengaluru. There is one company - Ace Micromatic which has a subsidiary Micromatic Machine Tools based in Peenya. The company has been a key sub-contractor for ISRO for the last 2-3 decades.

Official date of roll out?
Official date of rollout what kind of question is that!? Ban rha hai plane.....koi bolta hai isi December, koi bolta hai agle saal September koi bolta hai early 2026

Delay gg!
Well GOI is to be blamed for the delay.

The files of CCS have been sent way back....there have already a PIB report of discussion of approval of AMCA CCS approval almost 2 years ago. Go and check it.

are you mentally ill???how can anyone defend HAL??

TUrkey is flying KAAn
🦃 is getting the fund at the right time here those concerned are sitting on the file and taking tour all around the 🌍 in the luxurious jets in saying so I am not defending hal they r almost pathetic to the department they comes under.

Tekjas mk2 have not flied yet. project is 20 years old...

have some shame.. or be ready for another humiliation like balakot..

Though it was formally approved in September 2022, the CDR was already complete in 2021, which indicates the project continued to receive funding on with an informal funding arrangement.
What makes u think that!?
😅
By going with this logic, AMCA wasn't on a comma for a year until CCS recently approved it right!?
