Pakistan Unveils Upgraded Shahpar II UCAV, Claims Outmatch TB2 and CH-4

Pakistan has unveiled a significantly upgraded version of its Shahpar Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV), boasting superior capabilities and cost-effectiveness compared to the popular Turkish Bayraktar TB2 and Chinese CH-4 drones.

The announcement came during a recent demonstration for military officials from 11 allied nations.

Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS), the Pakistani state-owned defence company responsible for the Shahpar II, showcased the drone's enhanced capabilities in a live-fire exercise.

The UCAV, designated as a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) platform, successfully engaged ground targets with its "Burq" air-to-ground guided missile from an altitude of 14,000 feet.

Improved Endurance and Capabilities

The Shahpar II represents a substantial upgrade over the earlier Shahpar-I model. GIDS officials tout increased endurance, with the drone capable of 20 hours of flight time for surveillance missions and 14 hours for offensive operations.

During the demonstration, Pakistani officials asserted the Shahpar II's superiority to both the Bayraktar TB2 and the CH-4 – drones currently in service with the Pakistani military. The claim highlights potential competition within Pakistan's existing UCAV arsenal.

Satellite Communications and Cost-Effectiveness

The Shahpar II incorporates a SATCOM satellite communication system. This provides a critical advantage in long-distance operations and allows the drone to conduct maximum-range missions with real-time communication to ground control stations.

Additionally, GIDS officials emphasize the drone's cost-effectiveness compared to its rivals.

Implications

The unveiling of the enhanced Shahpar II signals Pakistan's increasing investment in indigenous drone technology.

With claims of superior capability and lower costs compared to existing internationally sourced drones, the Shahpar II has the potential to reshape Pakistan's drone strategy.

Its success could lead to greater reliance on domestically developed systems and increased export potential for Pakistan's defence industry.

A country almost near to bankruptcy is making better equipment than us, GOD, whats wrong with us?

This is not better equipment. It has 0 use in a conflict with India or any other country with decent air defence.

At most it can be used to kill terrorists or taliban in afghanistan by pakistan.

These UCAVs would be sitting ducks vs an enemy with air defence capabilites or fighter aircraft.

Only use of these can be vs terrorists or insurgents like what israelis are doing in gaza.

Undermining enemy ability will ultimately result in demise. The country with extreme low budget, education, industrial base is ahead in drones, Fighters and small equipment and we are not. If you keep arrogance that you are the best then you will never improve.

Time to retrospect and see what can we do to counter, overcome such challenges now and in future.

I am the one undermining, but I can assure that indian armed forces does not unddermine. They are very very alert. You can listen to the chiefs, they always say that even though our neighbour is going through crisis we should not take them lightly and put down guard.

Ukraine had used bayrakters to great effect in early days of war, but after a month they had become useless. Russia had made many tactical and strategic blunders early on and were unprepared. That is not the case wirh indian military

Even our ADE team working on the Rustam UAV used to boast that their product will be superior to US Predator - we all know the result!

No one can beat napaks, they have mastered the tech for inter galactic wars.
On serious side, they help and motivate Indian armed forces planners to get into action by pushing them into reality from holding the glossary magazines brochures and dreaming about imports and foreign trips.

Surely our generals must have rushed for the catalogue of foren drones for importing.. agreeing for a 25000 ft parameter while refusing own drone hitting 28000 ft.

Look at the design concepts being generated by private companies such as ANDANI, and then compare that with TAPAS from ADE. I am guessing the the average age of the ADE engineer's is around 70, and the mindset that goes with such age. Need young, talented forward thinking engineer's and scientists

Chill guys, another Coronastani drone rebadged by Beggaristan. Neither tested, nor proven & would be never be deployed apart from airshows. After the election, the pigs needed to show at least something to the pak junta . When in war, Beggaristani pigs would retort to TB2 & CH4s only just like they did in Balakot with F16s inspite of having the "superior" Junk 17s

Low IQ Pakistanis boasting about advanced UAV development. In Pakistan, children going to school is considered as a big offence. Then where did the knowledge to develop this technology come from. Obviously bought a Chinese drone and painted green colour on it.
