India's New 'Rocket Force': A Game-Changer in Regional Defence

India's establishment of a dedicated "Rocket Force" (IRF) marks a major shift in its defense strategy, with far-reaching consequences for the security of the region. This new force will rely heavily on advanced missiles to ensure India's ability to defend itself and act as a deterrent.

While ballistic missiles will remain a core part of the IRF's arsenal, sub-sonic cruise missiles (SCMs) are emerging as another essential weapon. Unlike the high-flying ballistic missiles, SCMs travel close to the Earth's surface, making them notoriously challenging for traditional defense systems to locate and stop.

These missiles offer pinpoint accuracy, capable of striking specific targets with conventional or specialized explosives. SCMs can also be fired from significant distances, allowing the IRF to launch them from safer positions outside an enemy's air defenses. The force envisions using a variety of launch platforms – land, sea, and potentially even from the air – giving them significant flexibility in how and where they can deploy these weapons.

The new Rocket Force will operate as a joint venture, utilizing weapons and resources from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. This cooperation will make the IRF a more powerful and adaptable force.

Why are SCMs such a big deal? These versatile, accurate missiles can potentially overwhelm even the most sophisticated air defense systems. For the IRF, they represent the next step in its commitment to build a robust and credible deterrent against any potential adversary.

The creation of the IRF, and its growing collection of advanced missiles, underscores India's determination to protect itself. The strategic use of SCMs, alongside other weaponry, will be essential in assuring the success of the Rocket Force while contributing to the overall stability of the region.

We require a large quantity of highly affordable drones and missiles with a range of 1000 kilometers.

waiting for Air Launch Sub-sonic Missile . to b fired by Su-30MKI

India needs to develop a missile that can be installed on all ships, land and air so I hope they have developed a light and long range missile. A major achievement is that we have developed a reliable engine which is the major part and cost but as we need hundreds of these missiles the cost should come down.
