The top army boss in the East, Lieutenant General RC Tiwari, recently had a super important meeting with Sikkim's Governor, Shri Lakshman Acharya. Their mission? To make our borders stronger and improve life for people living in those areas. It happened on May 2nd, 2024.

Talking Big-Picture Security

Protecting the Borders and Beyond

Lieutenant General Tiwari and Governor Acharya agreed that protecting our borders isn't easy, and we need to take it seriously. They wanted to make sure that people who live near the border are safe and sound.

Building, Not Just Guarding

But they didn't just talk about security! These leaders also want to see those border areas get a big upgrade in terms of roads, connections, and overall development. Imagine how much these things can improve lives and bring in jobs!

Honoring the Brave: The 'Prerna Sthal'

Lieutenant General Tiwari made sure to thank the Governor for a very special project – building the 'Prerna Sthal' at Burdang. Let's remember folks, this is a very special memorial to honor the soldiers who bravely lost their lives during that horrible Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) back in October 2023. This memorial reminds us how our soldiers put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

The Army boss assured the Governor that the Army will always remember the sacrifice of those soldiers and make sure their stories live on.

Stronger Together

Governor Acharya also thanked the Army for its hard work in keeping the region secure and helping it develop. He said the Sikkim government will keep working closely with the Army to deal with difficult security situations and bring progress to the border areas.

This whole meeting really showed how important it is for the Army and civilian leaders to work together to keep our country safe and make things better for everyone. As India faces tricky situations, it's good to see this kind of partnership to protect our nation and help it grow.
