South Korea Considers Joining AUKUS Tech Club, Japan and New Zealand Eye Membership Too

South Korea is peeking into a high-tech club! Talks are underway for them to join AUKUS, a partnership between the US, UK, and Australia focused on developing next-generation military tech. While Australia snagged a deal for nuclear submarines, South Korea seems more interested in the awesome gadgets under Pillar 2: hypersonic weapons, drones, and other cutting-edge gear.

This isn't just a one-way street. AUKUS members are chomping at the bit to have South Korea on board. Their reputation for top-notch tech is no secret – they recently unveiled their very own fighter jet, and their "Vajra" self-propelled gun is a testament to their firepower innovation.

South Korea isn't the only country catching AUKUS fever. Last month, whispers emerged about Japan joining the party, specifically for Pillar 2 projects. Japan boasts some seriously impressive tech as well, particularly in their submarines and naval vessels. It's no surprise they'd be interested in collaborating on the next big thing in defense.

New Zealand, known for its strong stance against nuclear weapons, is also mulling over membership, but likely for Pillar 2 initiatives only. While a decision is still far off, the growing security concerns in the Pacific are nudging them towards AUKUS.

AUKUS is shaping up to be a tech powerhouse in the making. With South Korea potentially joining forces with Japan and New Zealand (at least for some projects), we could see some groundbreaking advancements in military technology emerge in the near future. This club is definitely worth keeping an eye on!
