India and France Team Up for Exercise Shakti Mountain Warfare Training in Meghalaya

Get ready for some serious action in the hills of Meghalaya! From May 13th to 26th, the Indian and French armies are joining forces for "Exercise Shakti," a training drill focused on tackling tough missions in mountainous and semi-urban areas.

This exercise is all about boosting the ability of both countries to work together in tricky scenarios. Think of it like a boot camp for handling threats to peace and other challenging security situations.

India's sending a solid team of 90 soldiers, mainly from the Rajput Regiment, along with some backup from the Navy and Air Force. France is matching that with 90 of their best, primarily from the 13th Foreign Legion Half-Brigade. Important figures like the French Ambassador, Thierry Mathou, and India's Brigadier Mayur Shekatkar will be on hand to kick things off.

So, what's on the training schedule? Think high-intensity fitness, tactical drills, and plenty of teamwork practice. They'll even be simulating a scenario where they take down terrorists who have captured territory – complete with helicopter drops, specialized squads, and even some drones buzzing overhead!

This isn't the first time these two countries have teamed up. Exercise Shakti has been going strong since 2011, and this 7th edition shows just how committed India and France are to strengthening their military bond. With strong defense cooperation already in place, this exercise promises to take things to the next level.
