Army Unleashes 82 MM Mortars After Pakistan Violates Ceasefire In Poonch Sector Of J&K

Pakistan on Saturday (1 December) violated the ceasefire along the line of control (LoC) in Shahpur and Qasba areas of the Poonch sectors of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Asian News International (ANI).

Befittingly returning the favour, the Indian Army responded with lethal 82 mm mortar rounds inflicting major damage on the other end of the border. Acknowledging the retaliation by the Indian forces, Pakistan Army spokesperson claimed that two of its officers had been injured by the firing by Indian Army in Rakhchikri and Rawalkot sectors along the LoC.

It should be noted that since the Indian Parliament's decision to deoperationalise the Article 370 of the Indian Constitution and to bifurcate the former State into two separate Union Territories, ceasefire violations by Pakistan have risen significantly.

From August to October alone, Pakistan's forces deployed along the LoC have violated the ceasefire as many as 950 times, while also violating the ceasefire along the International border between the two nations in Jammu region as many as 79 times.
